Friday Favorites #5

Welcome back, and happy Friday! I hope that your week has been a good one, and that you’re looking forward to a relaxing weekend ahead. I used to never see the value in relaxation, but as I get older and learn from wise people, it is for our bodies to rest and recharge. If you are feeling a bit run down as we approach the end of the week, I hope that you get a chance to participate in any activity that helps bring restoration to you this weekend, even if it’s just a good night of sleep!

At this point, I’m a blank slate with favorites from the week, so let’s dive in and see what we can come up with!

  • Homemade Root Beer Floats

This was a random idea that came to me the other night when Josiah was drinking a can of root beer at the church. I want to be more of a root beer float person, and I’m trying! I like ice cream and I like root beer, I’m just not crazy about the two mixed together. It was a fun dessert though!

  • Outgrowing Nana’s Lap

Nana can’t resist scooping James up into her lap at some point when we are over for a visit. As you can tell he is getting a little big for her lap these days… His routine at Nana’s consists of turning on the radio, dancing, locating the bag of goldfish that’s always sitting on the coffee table, bringing the bag over to Nana, and waiting for her to hand him a goldfish. The cycle repeats itself over and over! I love it.

  • Love-Hate Latte

I’m calling this the love-hate latte because this latte tasted out of this world amazing! I’m not even a big coffee drinker, but wow. Way to go cafe Kubal! What I hate about this latte was that it cost just shy of $6. Yikes! It was a small, and my hand is practically bigger than the cup. When did coffee drinks become so expensive? And why the pressure to leave a tip on top of that?!

  • Playground vs. Destroy the Apartment

And we choose…playground! I would be lying if I didn’t admit that one of the reasons we try to fill our mornings with lots of activities, including trips to the playground, is because the alternative to that is James wreaking havoc at home. And if the apartment is a total disaster, then I end up spending his entire nap cleaning. Only to have him tear it apart two seconds later…yes we have reached that stage of life.

  • Adidas Sneakers

For my birthday this year, I was gifted a pair of Adidas Cloudfoam Sneakers, and then I gave Josiah and my mom each a pair for Christmas (they were super on sale during the holiday season). We all really like our cloudfoams and I would totally get another pair when mine wear out. They are the perfect every day shoe. But then I saw one of my favorite bloggers sporting these sneakers from Adidas, and I think they are super cute! I love how white they are, with a subtle pop of rainbow on the sides. Based on my shoe experience, I would never be able to keep them white, so I should probably stay in the cloudfoam family.

Question of the Day: What are you loving this week?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi I'm Rae and I am a pastor's wife and mom to our one year old son James. I recently started blogging as a way to share my recovery journey from an eating disorder, as well as married life, motherhood, food, and faith. Hop along for the ride, Iโ€™m glad youโ€™re here!
