Friday Favorites #6

It’s Fri-YAY! Who else is excited for the weekend ahead? Josiah’s got a fairly busy weekend with church commitments, but I’m hoping we can soak up a good amount of family time in between, as well as a date night on Saturday, woohoo! We are so fortunate to have both of our families nearby and willing to watch James to give us a time to spend as a couple. I hope that you’ve got a weekend planned with fun activities!

Let’s take a look at some weekly favorites, shall we?

Plastic Storage Bins

Who needs a pool? When you’ve got plastic storage tubs and limited space, that’s all you need to have some bubbly water fun. For us at least. Our go-to summer activity has been exactly this. A storage bin filled with soapy water, alongside a few other bowls and toys filled with water. Instant entertainment, for a little while at least πŸ™‚ Side note: I also use these storage bins for all things storage related too. James’s clothes, seasonal decorations, etc.. A Target purchase you definitely won’t regret.

Blueberry Picking

James and I went blueberry picking on Berry Road yesterday morning and it was an awesome experience. It’s been forever since I’ve picked berries of any kind and I forgot how much fun it is! I love feeling connected to the food that I’m eating and picking fresh berries is a perfect way to feel that connection. James seemed to enjoy it as well. Every time I handed him a couple of berries fresh off the branch, he starred at me, eyes wide in amazement as he quickly snatched the berries out of my hand and into his mouth. I kept trying to get him to pick the berries off of the bush, but he didn’t quite get the concept. Next year!

Manifest

I know we aren’t the only ones hooked on this show right now, but man did we get sucked in! We stumbled across it one night in a desperate search of something new and exciting to watch on TV, and while we often make fun of certain aspects of the show, it certainly has us coming back night after night. If you’re looking for a little suspense, thrill, mystery, family drama, etc. this is the show for you!

What to Bake?

I’m not sure if this really counts as a favorite but it’s going on the list. Now that we’ve devoured the entire batch of chocolate zucchini muffins, I’m craving all of the baked goods! It doesn’t help that the weather has been a bit cool and cloudy, the perfect baking weather in my opinion. But what to bake next, that is the question I’m pondering at the moment. We’ve got the ingredients to make rice crispy treats (<–my go-to rice crispy recipe), but I’m craving something chocolatey again. Is is too early to start baking season? Maybe I’m just in a mid-summer slump of sorts and seeking the coziness of the fall season ahead. Does anyone else jump back in the kitchen when the weather cools down? What are you baking these days?

The Jesus Storybook Bible

This was the first gift we received for James when we found out I was pregnant. While he absolutely does not have the patience to sit through story time these days, at home or at the library, we still read to James before naps and bed. He has a decent collection of children’s books and there are so many that I enjoy reading to him, but this is by far mine and Josiah’s favorite. Reading to James looks like one of us sitting in his cozy rocking chair with a blanket while he runs in circles around his room looking for ways to get into trouble. Fortunately “The Jesus Storybook Bible” is a great read regardless of whether James is paying attention and I learn more about Jesus from it every day.

Have a great weekend everyone! We’ll chat soon πŸ™‚
